This morning all of the staff and students woke up at 5:15am to head back to Minnesota and Michigan. We woke up, ate breakfast, prayed, and hit the road by 6am.
Last night we had our final meeting where Andrew Knight shared with us about not missing opportunities to spread the gospel back on the campus, but by faith trusting God to do big things through our lives. That talk will be available online next week. At the meeting we also revealed the project video and t-shirt. The video will also be available online next week.
In the coming weeks, we will put some quotes from students about all that God did in their lives this summer. Thanks to all of you who followed our blog all summer and prayed for us down at Myrtle Beach.

They emphasized the importance of being intentional with their down time as they prepare for the coming term. Later tonight, they are eating out as rooms for the last time.

During the final Campus Time, disciples ate subs and played games liek signs, kickball, and the human knot. After that, they had the opportunity to share with others about what they had learned over project and pray together.

Staff came back late yesterday much to the excitement of project. There was also a Job Social where disciples entertained co-workers with skits and also had the chance of sharing the Gospel and the reason they were on Beach Project and working in SC.

All of project went through a time of evaluation and reflection this morning as disciples continue to prepare for their return to their campus. After that disciples went back to work or relaxed, knowing that their job this summer is over. Activity on project is indeed growing as more and more people are finishing their jobs and isntead spending time with each other and the staff.

Last night the U of M students gathered at the beach to pray for their campus, after enjoying some goodies made by the girls.
“It was Amazing” says Charlie Schumacher.
As for today, Staff should be arriving project around 5:00 pm, which makes the disciples excited. Furthermore, the project social is gonig to be having special visitors. We are expecting a great number of co-workers from the different places that disciples have been working throughout this summer. This social meal will be followed with a Gospel presentation led by Justin Richardson.
So, we would appreciated if you pray for tonight’s activities.

Wednesday this week is a little different. After evangelism, instead of debriefing, disciples will be cleaning in anticipation of the returning staff. There will also be a communal time of prayer held this evening. Continuing last week, James Gisler will share with us during Evangelism Training. He will be speaking on “The Gospel and the Campus.”
Otherwise today is pretty standard, the team leaders are just getting back from their Leadership Training Session. Until training today, disciples have been getting in the word and meditating on what they have learned from last night. There is still so much to be done and be thankful for even on the last week of project.

…and nine days later we will all be back home. Feels like another great weekend coming to a close.

Disciples spending their time going on group dates, swimming in the ocean, doing laundry, and a fun game of mafia under the tent. Besides the reports from the fireworks and the cheers of people riding the air-launched swing next door to us, it is very tranquil here on project. Rev. Okey is once again sharing with the disciples after a worship session led by Dan Harper.

Some of the disciples had lunch with their co-workers on project today, a little taste of the job social to come. There are a lot to look forward to this week, including the return of the staff later this week.

Wednesday night, project had guys and girl’s time once again. Disciples really enjoyed their time. Girls and guys met at their respective meeting locations and spent time asking questions to a pnel formed by team leaders.

As for Thursday, after a long day of work it was show time. Guys had to perform a synchronized swimming routine for the ladies in order to win a group date for the night. However, because of a storm the show had to be stopped, nevertheless, every guy’s room was paired up with a girl’s room for the night.

Disciples are starting to work on cleaning. They have been given a list with the different tasks that need to be done before everyone leaves project.

Furthermore, after theme night, disciples made their way to the beach where they prayed for the lost, for relatives and for project in general. It was a sweet way to finish the day.
As for today is evangelism training, James Gisler has the microphone once again. Please pray that God can use him and work through him to impact the lives of the students.

Here you have the Testimony of one of the CCP members. Our apologies to you for not having it before in time. Please, keep praying for the CCP India Team.

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
Romans 10:14-17

Last night, as you already know, Jack Thompson led bible training. His talk was about the “application” of Scripture, and the importance of it. It was an edifying time for all the disciples to remember that if one wants to be transformed by the Gospel, it is essential to believe it.

Supper and team time was moved to Okey’s church (Pine Drive Gospel) due to rain and some difficulties with getting the project meal on time.

As for today, Mike Polley is in charge of theme night once again. He will be sharing about “Prayer,” the power of an exile. Once again, we would appreciate if you can keep Mike Polley and the disciples in your prayers as they study the Word.

As is true of today, the weekend at project is usually slow. Many of the disciples go on group dates or take naps, grinding activity at project to a near halt, which is fine for most who are drained from a busy week.

After Life Training with Reid Jilek and services at their respective churches, disciples still have the time to pray for the world. So far, more than half the world has been pinned for prayer, as disciples fill a world map with tacks as they pray for each country. As pins fill up the world map, God’s presence over the whole earth is awe-inspiring.

Today, students keep praying for the different countries around the world. Since Saturday mornings are free, most of the disciples take the advantage of going on the beach and pray or have their D-groups with their rooms.

The focus from now on is getting ready to depart and take everything they have learned back with them to their different campuses. Therefore, we would appreciate if you keep praying for us as we look ahead to the coming year.

Remember to check <the gallery> for new photos, it has been reorganized by week for easier accessibility.
There are also new audio content from this week’s various training sessions.

Students are surprised with the thought that in three weeks project is going to be over. However, most of the students are excited to go back home and keep developing these new friendships.
Yesterday, at evangelism training, James Gisler talked about “Mercy Ministry” being a part of our every day life. Later on, students did something different. Each room read an article about the doctrine of Hell, then spent time at the beach praying for people and meditated on “the hideous doctrine may grip our souls in dark terror and make us weep, but let us be sure it also prompts us to holiness and compassion.” (John Thomas).
As for tonight, social is taking place at project.

The definition of discipleship is one’s intentional living and sharing into another person’s life to push them towards Christ. Mike Polley talked about his personal experience as a disciple and a mentor observing that the relationship is not one of tutor and student, but something closer to father and son.

James Gisler’s team is leading the theme for this week. The theme is Christmas in July. Disciples on his team will be washing and cleaning the cars on project for the week’s encouragement. The Social Time on Thursday will include a white elephant gift exchange, dressing up according to an assigned Christmas theme, plus many more “seasonal” events to celebrate Christmas in July.

Josh shared with us that it is easy to wrongly interpret the Bible when one does not focus on Christ. “We need to confess our sinfulness, and then repent from it.” “Look at the context and let’s interpret the Bible with the Bible.”
After Bible Training, it was team time. These times are for the students to have fellowship after a long day of work. Most of the time, teams either play games, share some goodies or just chill and hang-out.
Tonight is Theme Night. Mike Polley will be talking about “Discipleship: God’s pursuit for exiles.” Therefore, we would appreciate if you pray for Mike and the students.
-We would encourage you to watch the testimonies. If they do not appear on the window please click on “Older Entries” so you will be able to see the videos from the past weeks-

The pool, muddied by a type of fungus then doused with extreme amounts of cleaning chemicals, making it unsuitable for use over the last couple days, also looks ready for some action. This week’s theme will be centered on discipleship.

Make sure to check out some the kids at their jobs as well as clips from the CCP hosted scavanger hunt from last week in <this week’s Highlights video>

Hi everyone.

This morning the CCP group left project at 5:50 am. Some of the students sacrificed sleep to say “good bye” and pray for them once again.

At Life training Reid Jilek spoke about “Holding Loosely to Your Schedule.” Reid described the two extremes of being either over scheduled or laid back, and how there could be sin on both of these sides. Later on in the morning, students attended Church after life training.

Today, students at project are just relaxing with the goal to gain some energy before a new week starts.
Enjoy the Highlights of the week.

Disciples enjoyed looking for the CCP team members during the Broadway at the Beach Social Time on Thursday night. Teams left at 7:15 then came back at 10:00 after walking around and taking pictures of each other following the crazy directions of the scavenger hunt. Jeff Wiesner’s team surfaced as the winners of a night full of entertainment to the disciples as well as the bystanders who got to watch or even take part in the antics of this week’s social.

Look forward to some great updates including pictures from the CCP Broadway at the Beach and another week’s highlights video. We have also prepared the sessions from this week for your hearing pleasure:

Today, Wednesday, the CCP group joined the Team Leaders and the Room Leaders for today’s Seminar led by Adam Evers. Adam shared about Confrontation among the disciples.
“It made me realized how much I idolize relationships” said Michael Owczarek, one of the room leaders, “It was a helpful talk.”

As for the afternoon, James Gisler shared “The Message, Part II” with us. James talked about the importance of having Jesus in our sharing time.
“If we do not talk about Jesus, the message is pointless.”

After evangelism time, the students had their campus time where the challenge was to think and pray for those who are back in Minnesota who do not know about Christ.

Elliot Stokes, CO staff for Northwestern College and the leader for the CCP team here, will be giving the theme training today. He will unpack more on what it means for a Christian to be an exile in this world.

As mentioned, Garden City Baptist (GCB) has been burned down, so Theme Training will be meeting at the Garden City Chapel (GCC) tonight. For the time being, the people at GCC have graciously offered to let project use their facilities during the week.

During Bible Study Training, Jack Thompson shared that studying the Bible is worship, and that it is a process that takes time and discipline. Disciples also got a chance to walk through 1Peter 3:1-2 together.

This morning around 1:30 am, the India Team arrived on project. Students are excited to spend about a week with this team by Elliot Stokes.

Furthermore, this morning at Life Training, Reid Jilek spoke about “Holding Loosely to Family.” He shared a little from his background and on how God has been working on his earthly family. His main focus was that “family is not the ultimate focus, God is.” Reid reminded us of the importance of our eternal family.

Moreover, today we were informed with the sad news that Garden City Baptist Church, one of the churches that the students attend, was severely destroyed by a fire. It took about five hours to extinguish and much of the church has been burned down. Therefore, we would appreciate if you keep in your prayers our brothers and sister of Garden City Beach Baptist Church.

“I am very surprised,” Mike Polley said after being thrown into the pool by his roommates.

Although it is a very hot day in Garden City, the students went to work joyfully this afternoon. Moreover, tonight is a very special night. The CCP team going to India will be arriving at Project, and many of the students are excited to spend a few days with them.

Disciples ate guacamole and danced salsa during yesterday’s social. After dinner, Natin Moreno led the project in a quick salsa lesson. Everyone in project enjoyed their taste of Hispanic culture as they ate guacamole, danced, and cheered as they broke colorful piñatas open.

Campus Time was led for the first time without the CO staff who left at various times on Thursday. Many of the campuses spent their time by breaking up into groups and praying, sharing testimonies, and contacting friends outside of project, or praying one-on-one on behalf of the other person.

This week’s encouragement verse is from Romans 8:18-19.

Students are beginning to be more confident sharing their faith. This is not because of the weekly experience, but rather, they have been able to see that God is the one who is working through them.

Moreover, late afternoon the project was divided into girls and boys. It was a special bonding time for both of the groups. The guys played ultimate while the girls had chocolate fondue.

As for today, the staff is leaving to different directions for the next four weeks. Pray for the staff as they go around the south raising support for their ministries.

Tonight is also Social Night, or as we are calling it, GUACAMOLE Night! The Josh Schrock’s team, Boom Boom Pow, is in charge of the spicy night out.

A few pictures from the staff send-off last night. (a clip of this glorious night is also coming soon)

Their movie, “Summer of the Infants” will be uploaded on the site soon as well as Mike Chamber’s testimony of how God saved his life. Matt Reagan shared about “Heaven: Homecoming for an Exile” where he explained why Christians could look forward to death and the implications of their eternal home. All of this and more will be uploaded in the weeks to come.

Eric Lonergan talked about “Heart Transformation, Not Head Inflation.” Students were reminded that when it comes the time study the Gospel, the point is to be transformed by it and not use it as instrument to lecture people. Otherwise, everything is going to be pointless. After his talk, Eric lead us through our third work-shop on how to use the inductive method. As for today, students are excited about Theme Night. Pray that God may use Matt Reagan to challenge us as we talk about “Heaven, Homecoming for an Exile.”

Paul Poteat and Zach Simmons led Praise and Worship this evening, after which Jon Saunders shared and answered questions with some of the other staff members.

Yesterday many of the students worked from 2pm till 11pm. Therefore, students enjoyed their morning by getting in the word, going for a run, sharing their testimony with each other, or catching up on sleep. For instance, Gaby Linder from Northwestern College, who is doing Athletes In Training (AIT), describes her Fridays as “fabulous”. She is working at Bi-Lo and loving it. “The best part of working at Bi-Lo, is the interaction that I can have with costumers” she says.

Furthermore, some students are happy for having their parents or friends down visiting for the weekend. This morning, parents, friends, some of the students and staff had breakfast along with a sharing time. Mrs. Lorence and Sarah Evans were the ones who had the opportunity to share what God has been doing in their lives. Moreover, Andrew Knight had the opportunity to present what CO is all about, and what is the mission of this College Ministry to those who were not so familiar with Campus Outreach.

The Theme of this week’s Social was Southern Country. Dressed as hicks and preps, the disciples sang along as Paul Poteat led them in a string of country and not-so-country songs.
True to the theme, the Project Dinner for Thursday was a Low Country Boil. The smorgasbord consisted of boiled sausage, corn, shrimp, onions, and potatoes prepared by the staff and the A-team. The night was spent eating food from the table with their hands and dancing to some tunes.
Once again, <the gallery> has been updated with pictures from this week. The Mugshots album is almost complete as well.

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting our blog once again.

Yesterday, as usual, students had the morning off while others had the privilege to work. Many of them took the advantage to rest and read. They also had the opportunity to spend some time meditating on the powerful talk Matt Reagan gave on Tuesday. We would encourage you to download it as well.

Later everyone got ready for evangelism training where Colby Williamson shared with us on “Why Share the Gospel.” Students were truly encouraged and challenged to realize that we do not share the Gospel as a kind of duty, or a certain type of debt that we owe to God. Rather, we evangelize in the light of valuing God. We share the Gospel because it is the most valuable message that a person can give and experience.

As for tonight, project is having social time where students are going to be able to experience a truly southern treat.

Matt Reagan is going to be sharing about “Grace: An Exile’s Gospel.” Pray that God continues his work and that He might open our eyes to see the beauty of the Gospel.
In other areas, last night we were hit by a storm that kept some students awake for a few hours into the night. “It was like a gentle hurricane” said Martha Joy, one of the Team Leaders. The sound of thunder was so loud that it made people jump from their beds. It was a terrifying but glorious experience at the same time.
Yesterday during our project meal, students gathered in small groups and prayed for each other’s families. It was a wonderful time to share about the good and bad news in our lives.

Today, Sunday, the project attended Church as usual. Moreover, this morning we had our third Life Training Seminar. Matt Reagan taught about being free by God and enjoying the great things that He has made for our pleasure. After Matt shared what God gave him to speak, we were challenged by Andrew Knight to meditate and ask each other what things in our lives stop us from enjoying God freely, and the things that are in our power that we are abusing by our freedom.

Yesterday, Friday, for most of the students the morning was open. Many of them took the advantage of having one on one conversations. “It was a sweet and refreshing time” says Shawn Vradenburg ( U of M student) one of the Room Leaders. Others like those who are involved in soccer were able to play with students from CO Charlotte, NC. “It is neat to make other connections with other CO Students outside of our project” David Langley says. However, for those students who are working at Wal-Mart and other locations it was an afternoon of work. All of them are thankful to God for being able to have a job. Furthermore, a few students spent time at the beach watching the lightning and being amazed at God’s creation. Today Saturday morning was D-Group time, and it was a beneficial time for sharing what God has been teaching us through out this past week.

Project is now complete after the arrival of Alan Hoglund. He arrived Wednesday night after a long flight from Europe.
Project Dinner was promptly followed by Campus Time. Disciples got to exclusively spend time with individuals in their respective campuses after breaking up into smaller groups. During this time, they shared their reason for coming to Summer Beach Project and prayed for each other.
Bowling in style, or in the style of your parents, or even as old as your parents seemed to be the theme of Social Time Decade Bowling. Disciples dressed up in the various fashions from the 60′s to the future and went bowling at Surfside Bowling.

As you already know, yesterday we had our second Evangelism Training with Paul Poteat . His talk was on “Being a Christian.” He focused on how we are only able to grow through daily repentance. It is crucial for us, as believers, to understand that we need the Gospel just as much as the non-believers (Romans 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
After going in different directions, the teams gathered again to share their experiences and prayed for those people who heard the Gospel. Later on, two teams had the privilege to have supper at Pine Drive Gospel Church. Most of the students agreed that the food was super “yummy.” The Fellowship was great.
Therefore, we would appreciate if you can have in your prayers the members of P.D.G. Church. Moreover, for tonight students are excited to have supper as a project and have Campus time.

It rained overnight but this morning is looking to be nice and sunny. Paul Poteat will once again instruct the disciples in Evangelism Training. Later this evening, there are a few group dates planned as well, so it is presumable to understand that today will hold much entertainment.

Ken Currie and his wife Teresa concluded their session on maintaining Christ honoring relationships last night. They focused on the need of a healthy relationship with God and submission to one another in any marriage (Ephesians 5). The recording from the night are in the works for those who are interested.

Monday was a challenging day. The day started with the entire staff and the few students without jobs going to look for one. The staff and around 14 other students prayed before making their way into town. After going around Garden City, we got the news that a couple of students were able to get jobs, which we Praise God for it.
Since the theme of this week is “Relationships,” Ken Currie and his wife Teresa had the opportunity to share their story. Later on, our brother Ken talked about “True Love” and what it meant to pursue a relationship under God’s sovereign plan. Moreover, tonight Ken is going to share the second part of his talk about “True Love.” At the end of this talk, students are going to be able to interact with Ken and Teresa through a “Question and Answer” platform. Therefore, keep praying for those students who have not been able to find a job yet, and please pray for Ken and Teresa as they share of what God’s has putting on their hearts for tonight.

After a restful weekend, we are entering our second week of project, but here’s a little bit of what went on this Sunday: During Life Training, Matt Reagan talked on “Holding Loosley to Money” and being free of the love of materials; and later in the evening, Rev Landers shared from 2 Peter 1 and answered questions that the disciples had, while some others went and worshipped God together. The rest of the time was spent in rest and fellowship.

Today, most of the disciples have driven off to their respective jobs, or are vigilantly searching for other job options with the staff. After work, everyone will have dinner together and then head to Garden City Baptist (GCB) for Bible Study Training and Team Time.

This first week made students feel at home. Through the different activities, seminars and small groups, we have been able to build strong friendships. Moreover, this morning at our Life Training Seminar, Matt Reagan talked about how we as Christians should embrace the idea of receiving and giving money. Later in the morning, the students enjoyed once again fellowship at different Churches around Garden City. For the rest of day, students have the afternoon to rest. However, as a project we are planning to meet at 7:30 pm to Praise and Worship together.

Today, Saturday, most of the students are getting together for their first official D-Group. We have been given a book named “Brown Like Coffee” to go through as a group. However, many others were scheduled to work this morning. This is why a few had to get together last night, or are getting together tonight. Furthermore, God has blessed us with a few other jobs, yet there are a few who still are looking for one. We would truly appreciate it if you pray that as a project we can trust God and rest in his sovereignty.
In other matters, students have been enjoying the fellowship and getting to know each other through out the week. As a project, we have the task to memorize Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”.

For our Project Social this week, we played a game of “Bigger and Better,” the gist of it was to find something bigger and better than the other teams through a series of trades and bringing it back home to show off crazy items and funny stories. Some people came back with sofas, gum-ball machines, a colorful pair of bikes, and even jobs.

Random treasures are not the only things that are becoming “bigger and better.” We are all growing in community daily as we share in the word, eat, and live together. We also had our first Campus Time this week. Each group prayed for their campuses and God’s plans for us in the coming semester. On a lighter note, three group dates are already underway with others anticipated for the coming weeks.

The group picture was taken yesterday, hopefully this means that it will be up in the gallery relatively soon. Other pictures from this week have also been uploaded to the gallery, <check them out here>.

Yesterday, after our first Evangelism training by Paul Poteat, the students and staff went over the beach to share Christ to the people. Paul challenged us to over come our fear of failure and put our trust in God, and the message of the Gospel. For some of the students this experience was new and challenging. Many students were rejected by the people; however, everybody was able to ask at least one person about Christ. Later on, we got together as teams and share our different experiences of how it went. Moreover, some of the students were able to establish a relationship with these people. We want to encourage you to keep in your prayers not only the students, but also keep in your prayers these people that were told about Christ. For today, students are looking forward to have a group picture. Have a bless day y’all!

There were not many complications on our way to Garden City. On Thursday night, we started out with our first seminar. Andrew Knight talked and introduced us to the theme of this Summer Project 2009, “Exiles”. Friday and Saturday were the days to look for jobs. Most of the students by now have obtained jobs at various places of employment around Myrtle Beach. These include Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo, Chick-Fil-A, Piggly Wiggly, Cracker Barrel, and McDonald’s. However, they are a few students who still are looking for a job. Therefore, please keep these students in your prayers. Moreover, yesterday the group was divided in three to attend church. It was and it will be a blessing to join these different congregations at Garden City. God has been blessing us with a wonderful weather, and the fellowship through reading the word at breakfast, lunch or free time has been a marvelous time. We are excited to start a new week here at Project.
